Dahlia, Pinnata
Dahlia pinnata (D. × pinnata) is a species in the genus Dahlia, family Asteraceae, with the common name garden dahlia. It is the type species of the genus and is widely cultivated. One way we distinguish between this variety and others, is to count the petals. To be fit into the "Pinnata" category the bloom must have 8 petals. No more, no less.
Dahlia coccinea
Dahlia coccinea is a species of flowering plant in the daisy family Asteraceae. Its common name is red dahlia, although the flowers can be orange or occasionally yellow, as well as the more common red. The species is native to Mexico but has long been cultivated in other countries for its showy flowers.
Dahlia in bloom
This was the first year we planted our saved tubers from the previous year. There was a large variety and a very diverse amount of colors and sizes for these paticular Dahlias.
All of these photos are from the spring/summer 2024 season.
