These flowering plants are native to warmer subtropical and tropical regions throughout the world. There are more than 100 different species, all comming in different sizes and colors. With the larger flower and stamen, almost anything that collects pollen visits these plants every day.

Late blooming Nasturtiums and Habenero

October is when we usualy start to take things down, clear out the plants, recycle the dirt for next year. The weather has been warm until today, so some of our plants are producing another rounds of crops. These small Habenero plants as well as the Nasturtium vines have really started picking up speed as the end of the season is now weeks away...

Downy woodpecker

we stopped feeding the birds downstairs on the patio and the garden for now, moving to the back, right out our back window. These species of woodpecker are really hard to get them commited to coming back to the same place, they are small and consume much less then the larger birds. (same thing with the cardinals) who are very skitish by nature.
