Heirloom Sunflower Varities

So many animals, especially bugs visit the sunflowers throughout the year. There are a ton of photos to post, most recently these Chickadee's come through. They are so small they can hang themselves upside down on the sunflower heads to eat.

Sunflower Patch

Every year out in the front we have a narrow space that catchs light for most of the late spring and summer months. We plant a varitey of heirloom and standards in early spring. This year we had to do a replant, the birds were not only eating the sprouts once they were a xouple days old, but were digging up the seeds. Not only do some of the taller standard ones reach 12+ feet in height, most of the heirlooms reach anywhere from 6-8 feet in height, have multiple blooms and come in many different colors. Some of these flowers produce so much pollen that even thr biggest bumble bees would become "drunk" from all of the pollen and nectar in each flower. The time between the first and second photos and the third is about 65-70 days.

Finally everything has filled up in Plot #1 at Lill. A lot of the baby herbs have spread out like I had wanted them too, the Lilies are beginning to bloom, and the Dahlia's should be any day now.
